How long do I have to wait to have unprotected sex?

So, I have been in this new relationship for about two months now and everything is going well. I am on the pill and we have unprotected sex now. I am under the impression that i have to wait two weeks after i start having unprotected sex because it takes time to for the pill to work or something like that but my doctor never mentioned anything of that sort. I'm just want to know if its true and how long was i suppose to wait?

Normally one should wait at least one and one-half months for the birth control pills to
take full effect in woman's system.

Your physician and you could have had a better communication concerning the Birth Control Pills.
